RFDS Local Hero Awards Announced

RFDS Local Hero Awards Announced

Nine regional Queensland 'local heroes' were recognised recently in the RFDS Local Hero Awards, presented by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Queensland and proudly supported by Ergon Energy Retail.

These important awards were created as a way for the RFDS to thank and acknowledge those outstanding individuals who tirelessly and selflessly support the work of the Flying Doctor.

Each winner was nominated by their community for the help they provide the RFDS in some way, whether it is maintaining remote airstrips, making blankets and teddies for premature babies, supporting RFDS community clinics, fundraising, looking after RFDS community medical chests or assisting at the scene of an emergency.

Ergon Energy Retail is pleased to support the RFDS through its Local Hero Awards which recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of these regional Queenslanders.

Jock and Kaye Macdonald were jointly recognised for their tireless efforts to educate people within the community about the history and activities of the RFDS locally and help others to support the RFDS.

One of their most rewarding experiences was to help the school community to get a closer look at life on the RFDS Townsville base with a classroom demonstration of a typical operational day at the base.
